A lecturer at a tertiary institution in Anambra State has been arrested following allegations that he attempted to sexually harass a female student inside a laboratory on campus.
According to students, the lecturer had allegedly been pressuring the student for sex over a period of time. The student, with the support of other students, reportedly devised a plan to expose him.
The student allegedly entered the lecturerâs office and raised an alarm after the lecturer reportedly removed his clothes. As other students rushed to the scene, the lecturer, who was seen wearing only his underwear, allegedly locked the laboratory door to stop them from entering.
One of the students reportedly forced the door open, prompting the lecturer to flee through a window before he was later apprehended.

The institution has yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while the allegations have sparked widespread reactions online and renewed calls for stronger measures against sexual harassment in higher institutions.
