The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, the suspended South-West Zonal Coordinator of the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement, over an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence.
Tejuosho was arrested on September 8 and remains in EFCC custody, according to the commission.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to TheCable on Saturday.
“She is in our custody,” Oyewale said.
The arrest comes amid the ongoing activities of the City Boy Movement, a political support group associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tejuosho, who previously served as the group’s South-West women’s coordinator, was reportedly suspended from the position before her arrest.
Details of the allegation against her, including the amount allegedly involved and the identity of the complainant, were not immediately disclosed by the EFCC.
The commission is expected to investigate the allegation and determine whether there is sufficient evidence to warrant prosecution.
An arrest by the EFCC does not in itself establish guilt, and Tejuosho remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven otherwise in court.
