Embrace Digital Trading To Compete Globally, NEPC Tells Exporters

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has urged exporters to embrace digital trading methods for global competitiveness.
 
 
The Executive Director of NEPC, Mrs Nonye Ayeni, made the call at a workshop on ‘’Enhancing Exporters’ Competitiveness Through Digitalised Trade’’, organised by the council in Owerri on Thursday.
 
Ayeni, represented by the NEPC Coordinator in Imo, Mr Anthony Ajuruchi, said that exporters could better navigate the export ecosystem with the use of digital tools.
 
She said that with the use of improved technology and artificial intelligence, business could be transacted from a person’s comfort zone, making business management a lot easy.
 
“Market trends are changing and we must move with the tide; hence, the need to transit to digital trading so that we remain relevant and compete effectively “, she said.
 
 
Speaking, Ms Moboni Alemika, an Asst. Chief Trade Information Officer, Trade Information Department, NEPC, said that the council would continue to ensure that exporters in Nigeria were business ready.
 
She urged exporters to use information and communications technology tools to enhance their market intelligence to enable them approach the right markets with the right products.
 
Also, the Imo Coordinator, Technology Incubation Center, Mr Chukwumonso Ononiwu, represented by Mr Shedrach Ahamefula, said that digital trading tools, if utilised, could drive greater productivity.
 
He added that the centre would readily collaborate with exporters to grow the Imo export market and drive economic growth.
 
In her remarks, Mrs Lilian Chibuzor of the Nigerian Shippers Council thanked NEPC for the workshop and pledged continued collaboration with the council and exporters in the state.
 
A participant, a digital fish farmer, Mr Ben-Walter Chukwudi, advised farmers and exporters to develop and be self dependent, so as to have better control of their businesses and minimise losses.
 
Another participant, the Managing Director of St Anne’s cashew industry, Mr Uche Chikata, said he successfully transited to digital processing, packaging and sales, and urged other exporters to embrace digitalisation
