Emotional video of Alex Ekubo’s family and friends at his ongoing funeral service

It is an emotional time for friends, family and lovers of Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, as he is set to be laid to rest today, June 18th.

Kemi Filani reported on Wednesday that the actor’s body had arrived at his father’s compound at Arochukwu, Abia State. A Wake-keep was held for him, with Ini Edo, IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, Omoni Oboli, Ayo Makun, and many others in attendance.

In clips that made the rounds online, family, friends, industry colleagues, and community members gathered to say their goodbyes to him one last time.

Today, the actor is finally being laid to rest, and photos and clips from the funeral are making rounds online.

It appears that the dress code for the emotional event is white, as the actor’s family, friends, and even the venue’s decor are all white.

The Eze of Arochukwu had hinted that the late actor and his wife are expecting. He made this, known as the convoy carrying the actor’s body, made a stop at his palace, where he said a prayer over the casket.

While praying, he asked God to ensure that Alex’s lineage doesn’t end. He further claimed that they received news that Alex’s wife was pregnant, and he prayed that the child would achieve greater exploits than his popular father.

Refreshing your memory, news broke out last month that the light-skinned actor had passed away on Monday, May 11th, after a battle with Cancer and was 40 years old.

In a heartbreaking statement, his family announced that the actor had passed away after a brief but courageous battle. According to the statement, he passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

On Wednesday, June 10th, a Service of Songs was held for the actor at the Monarch Event Centre, Lekki. As expected, many celebrities attended the event to honour the late actor.

The likes of Nancy Isime, IK Ogbonna, Yomi Casual, Ayo Makun, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Ruth Kadiri, Kate Henshaw, Ebuka Obi Uchendu, Mbong Amata, Stan Nze and his wife, Blessing Obasi, Nkechi Blessing, Bambam, Funny Bone, Uti Nwachukwu, Chigul and more were in attendance.

At his Service of Songs, Pastor Ighodalo had prayed for the actor’s wife, and also praised her strength. Using himself as a case study, he reflected on his grief, saying he understands how deeply it is to lose a spouse. He noted how he lost his wife six years ago and has been dealing with it.

His wife’s sister, while paying tribute to Alex, revealed that the family was very particular about the man their sister ended up with, as she is a special breed. She said she knew he was the one when he came forth for her sister’s hand in marriage.

Recall that while mourning the late actor, Grace Makun, the wife of fashion designer Yomi Casual, dropped a bombshell revelation about his personal life. She revealed that he was married and expressed how much they will miss him.

Also, confirming it, Uche Jombo made a promise to him, saying she visited the actor’s house and met with his wife. She said they talked about him, and through the tears, laughter came. She expressed appreciation to God for his love and promised to take care of his wife.

Alex was previously engaged to American model, Fancy Acholonu.

Unfortunately, the engagement was short lived, as later that year, they broke up. The dissolution of Alex Ekubo’s engagement was made known to the public by his ex-fiancé Fancy Acholonu, with the actor being silent on the matter.
