Emotions run high as officers’ wives distribute relief materials to families of fallen soldiers

Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has distributed relief materials and welfare packages to families of fallen soldiers and other military families during a Sallah humanitarian outreach in Abuja.

The outreach which witnessed high emotions on the part of the fallen soldiers’ spouses, was held on Saturday at the Guards Brigade Sports Complex, Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro.

Mrs. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, president of NAOWA, led the exercise organised for members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) and widows of deceased military personnel.

The association said the outreach formed part of its welfare and humanitarian programmes aimed at supporting military communities during the festive season.

Addressing beneficiaries at the event, Shaibu described Sallah as a period of sacrifice, compassion and generosity.

She urged members of the military community and Nigerians to embrace empathy, peaceful coexistence and selfless service.

Shaibu said NAOWA would continue to promote humanitarian programmes focused on improving welfare and strengthening compassion within communities.

The event featured the distribution of relief materials and welfare packages to beneficiaries who expressed appreciation for the support received during the outreach.
