A Nigerian woman has raised concerns after claiming that the red apples she bought were actually faded green apples that had been painted red.
Olufunke Cherish O. shared her experience online, saying she noticed red stains on her palm after taking the apples out of the fridge the following day.
According to her, the discovery made her realise that the fruits may not have been naturally red as she initially believed.
“Guys 😭
I bought apples 🍎 yesterday, took it out from the fridge and noticed RED stains in my palm, it’s a faded green apple painted to Red.”
Her claim has sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians calling for relevant authorities to investigate the allegation, while others shared concerns about the safety and authenticity of fruits being sold to consumers.
Some users also claimed they had encountered similar situations, while others questioned why anyone would alter the colour of an apple in the first place.
