A former governorship aspirant and prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, has withdrawn from the contest for the Taraba North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Danladi cited emerging political developments in the district and the need to prioritise party unity as key reasons for his decision.
He expressed gratitude to party members and supporters who had encouraged him to join the race, noting that their confidence in his leadership was deeply appreciated.
“After careful reflection and consultation, I have decided to withdraw my intention to contest for the senatorial seat,” he said, emphasising that the move was made in good faith and in the broader interest of the party.
Danladi stated that his withdrawal would allow him to focus on his current role as coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Taraba State, where he pledged continued contributions to the growth and success of the APC.
The APC stalwart also declared his support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. In addition, he endorsed Agbu Kefas for the governorship of Taraba State, alongside other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He called on supporters and party faithful to remain united and committed to the party’s ideals, assuring them that their efforts would not be in vain.
While expressing optimism about the future of the APC, he urged members to work collectively towards the party’s continued success and Nigeria’s broader development.
