Mr. Darlington Orji, the immediate past Senior Special Assistant to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and former Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Collins Onunwo, have reportedly joined the Rainbow Coalition in the state.
Akelicious reports that the Rainbow Coalition is a bipartisan political alliance spearheaded by Nyesom Wike, aimed at mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Their defection comes amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State following Governor Fubara’s decision to withdraw from the governorship race, a move that reportedly paved the way for Kingsley Chinda to emerge as the APC governorship candidate.
The development has reportedly unsettled some of the governor’s loyalists, who claim they stood by him throughout the prolonged political crisis in the state.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Darlington Orji uploaded photos of himself alongside members of the coalition, declaring that he had “returned home to my family,” a statement widely interpreted as confirming his alignment with the Rainbow Coalition.
