The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched four dedicated telephone numbers for residents to report uncleared refuse, aiming to tackle the escalating waste management crisis.
The initiative comes amid growing complaints about overflowing dumps across Abuja, which have strained the city’s sanitation efforts during the festive season.
Announced in a press release on Tuesday, the program seeks to hold waste management contractors accountable by ensuring prompt clearance of refuse. Residents can now send photos and videos of uncleared dumps via WhatsApp to these lines, specifying the exact location to help pinpoint the responsible contractors.
Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, emphasized the importance of detailed reports. “This will help us identify and address lapses by specific contractors covering those areas,” he said.
The hotlines for reporting are: 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710, and 09114843425.
