The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reconstituted its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) committee to ensure faster, transparent and efficient resolution of land-related disputes in the nation’s capital.
The Director, FCT Land Administration, Esv. Chijioke Nwankwoeze, inaugurated the committee in his office, charging members to promote fairness, transparency and effective land governance in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a statement signed on Wednesday by Badaru Yakasai, Information Officer, AGIS Nwankwoeze said the committee would mediate and conciliate land-related disputes, review complaints and petitions, examine relevant land records and advise management on appropriate resolutions after an unbiased interface with the parties involved.
He explained that the ADR mechanism would provide an alternative to litigation by promoting amicable settlements and ensuring compliance with mutually agreed terms.
According to him, the initiative aligns with the reform agenda of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, aimed at sanitising land administration and improving service delivery to residents.
He said the selection of members was based on their experience, competence and the confidence reposed in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the committee’s mandate.
“The selection of Committee members was based on experience, competence, and the confidence reposed in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the effective discharge of the Committee’s mandate, particularly in the amicable resolution of disputes arising from land administration matters within the Federal Capital Territory,” he said.
Nwankwoeze added that the reconstitution reinforced the Department’s commitment to transparency, fairness and the rule of law in land administration, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Responding on behalf of the committee, its Chairman, Samuel Agbana, thanked the director for the confidence reposed in members.
Agbana assured that the committee would discharge its mandate with transparency, fairness and professionalism, without fear or favour, to ensure the speedy and amicable resolution of disputes in accordance with its Terms of Reference.
