FG Offers 14.25% Interest On Three-Year Bond

The Federal Government has offered investors an annual interest rate of 14.25 per cent on its three-year Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Savings Bond for November 2026, as the Debt Management Office (DMO) increases returns on the investment instrument above the rates offered in the previous month.

The new rate represents an increase from the 14.071 per cent offered on the three-year savings bond in October, reflecting improved yields for retail investors seeking investment opportunities backed by the Federal Government.

The development was disclosed in the DMO’s November 2026 FGN Savings Bond offer circular issued on Monday.

According to the offer circular, the government is offering two investment options: a two-year bond at an annual interest rate of 13.25 per cent and a three-year bond at 14.25 per cent.

The two-year instrument will mature on November 11, 2028, while the three-year bond is scheduled to mature on November 11, 2029.

The subscription period opened on November 2, 2026, and will close on November 6, 2026, with settlement scheduled for November 11, 2026.

Under the terms of the offer, investors will receive interest payments quarterly on February 11, May 11, August 11 and November 11 throughout the lifespan of the bonds.

The November offer also reflects an upward adjustment in the interest rates compared with the corresponding instruments issued in October. Both the two-year and three-year bonds recorded an increase of 0.179 percentage points in their respective annual interest rates.

The three-year bond offers investors a higher return than the two-year instrument, with a one-percentage-point difference between the two rates.

This provides investors with the option of choosing between a shorter investment period and a higher annual return over a longer tenure.

The FGN Savings Bond is designed primarily to provide retail investors with access to government-backed investment opportunities while offering a relatively predictable stream of income through quarterly interest payments.

Each bond unit is priced at N1,000, with a minimum subscription requirement of N5,000. Investors can increase their subscriptions in multiples of N1,000, subject to a maximum investment of N50 million.

The bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government of Nigeria, making them sovereign debt instruments with the government’s commitment to meeting its payment obligations.

The savings bond programme is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen participation in the domestic debt market by providing individuals and other retail investors with access to government securities.

Unlike some other investment instruments that may require substantial capital, the FGN Savings Bond allows individuals to participate with relatively modest amounts while earning interest at rates determined by the DMO for each monthly offer.

With the November offer now open, prospective investors have until November 6 to subscribe to either the two-year or three-year instrument, depending on their investment objectives, preferred maturity period and desired interest income.
