At least 12 people, including five Indians and six Nepali nationals, were injured in Abu Dhabi due to falling debris of the Iranian missiles that were intercepted by the air defence system of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday, said the Middle East nation’s government. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Abu Dhabi Media office further said people must avoid spreading rumours or unverified information regarding the recent strikes by Iran.
“As part of the ongoing follow-up to the previously reported incident in the Ajban area caused by falling debris following the successful interception by air defence systems, authorities confirm that the incident has resulted in minor to moderate injuries sustained by 6 individuals of Nepali nationality and 5 individuals of Indian nationality, and one major injury sustained by an individual of Nepali nationality,” the post read.
Last month, two Indians lost their lives in a similar incident after Iranian missiles were intercepted by UAE’s military. The Indian government had expressed its grief and said it was coordinating with local authorities to bring back their mortal remains from Abu Dhabi.
