Four former operatives of the Anambra State security outfit, Operation Udo-ga-achi, have been arraigned before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court sitting in Awka over the alleged assault of a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ms. Jennifer Elohor.
The defendants — Emmanuel Samson (29), Jude Obasi (43), Michael Ndudirim (28), and Ezinwanne Nweke (27) — were charged alongside others still at large.
According to the seven-count charge filed by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, the accused persons allegedly conspired to commit felony, indecently assaulted, inflicted physical injuries, stripped, and unlawfully intimidated the corps member at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.
The charge sheet, obtained on Thursday, October 16, indicated that all four defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Following a bail application by their counsel, the Presiding Chief Magistrate, U.E. Onochie, granted them bail and adjourned the case for trial.
“This case is hereby adjourned to the 14th day of January, 2026, for definite hearing,” Magistrate Onochie ruled.
It will be recalled that the dismissed operatives were captured in a viral video in July 2025 assaulting and stripping the corps member at her lodge in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
The video, which drew widespread outrage and condemnation, showed the armed personnel invading the premises and brutalizing the victim.
Following an internal investigation, the Anambra State Government terminated the appointments of eight personnel involved in the incident. The state also settled the victim’s medical expenses, replaced her damaged belongings, and issued a public apology to her family and the NYSC.
