Friendly: Iwobi, Akpan join Super Eagles camp in Lisbon; Chukwueze expected

Alex Iwobi and Christian Akpan have arrived in the Super Eagles camp in Lisbon as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s international friendly against Portugal.

Iwobi linked up with his teammates in Lisbon on Thursday having missed the international friendly against Poland.

KRC Genk defender, Christian Akpan earned his first Super Eagles call-up following the withdrawal of some invited players.

Relatively unknown in Nigerian football circles, Akpan will be hoping to earn his maiden Super Eagles appearance when the three-time African champions take on Portugal.

Meanwhile, winger Samuel Chukwueze is expected to join his Super Eagles teammates in camp on Friday (today).

Chukwueze was unavailable for the Unity Cup invitational tournament in London and Nigeria’s friendly against Poland following the passing and burial of his mother.

Pisa forward Rafiu Durosinmi has been granted leave from the Super Eagles camp to attend to urgent personal matters.

19 players made the trip from Poland to Portugal on Thursday following Nigeria’s international friendly in Warsaw.
