The sources said to TNA that the full text of the 15 clauses, including the eighth clause, “handing over weapons”, was redrafted during a trilateral meeting involving Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
According to the sources, “Hamas representatives delivered the text, with its 15 clauses, to the mediators to present it to the US administration and the Israeli occupation government.”
The sources said that “the amendments to the 14 points were minor, but the main problem was the eighth clause, which was described as the knot of all knots”.
The sources added that the clause “was subject to discussion and back-and-forth over several days between the factions themselves and between the factions and the mediators”.
“The Palestinian resistance factions have done everything required of them on this issue, taking into account the very difficult humanitarian suffering experienced by our people in the Gaza Strip. This suffering was the primary and ultimate driver in all these meetings,” the sources stressed.
