Welcome to The New Arab’s live coverage on the latest developments in the Middle East and North Africa.
Here are the latest updates on the US-Israel war with Iran:
Iran’s speaker of Parliament, Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, has warned the US against any new strikes against Iran, vowing a “crushing” response.
Ghalibaf issued the warning after meeting in Tehran a delegation from Pakistan, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Munir held talks with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, attempting to de-escalate the tension with the US, and has since left Iran, according to Iranian media.
Esmail Baghaei, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, said that many countries had been attempting to bring an end to the war in recent days.
The initiatives come amid reports that both sides are preparing for another round of fighting, with CBS reporting the US was preparing for attacks. Iran’s Tasnim news agency also reported that the IRGC is preparing to retaliate if fighting erupts.
