The Ghanaian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo after a prolonged illness.
Her manager, Abu Iddris, confirmed that the actress passed away on Saturday night, May 23, at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema after battling cancer for two years.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, May 24, Iddris described her health struggle as a difficult journey.
“She battled cancer for two years. It was a long and painful fight, but she remained strong throughout,” he said.
According to him, the illness reportedly started as breast cancer before spreading due to hereditary factors.
Beverly’s husband, musician Eugene Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster or Praye Ho Ne Ho of the music group Praye, also confirmed the heartbreaking news in a social media post on Sunday. The actress was 42 years old.
Despite her condition, Iddris said Beverly remained committed to both her work and family responsibilities while undergoing treatment.
He explained that she continued participating in photo shoots, movie promotions, and premieres even while receiving therapy.
“We still worked on projects with her during treatment. She kept pushing and lived as fully as she could until the illness became overwhelming,” he added.
Iddris further revealed that Beverly had traveled to the United States for medical care and was advised to remain there because of the healthcare system, but she chose to return to Ghana to be close to her children.
Knowing the seriousness of her condition, she reportedly decided to spend her remaining time with her family despite the risks involved.
Her family is yet to release details regarding her funeral arrangements as loved ones continue to mourn her passing.
