The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has strongly rejected what it described as an “illegal, politically contrived and inconsequential gathering” held at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo, where Ademola Adeleke and some officials of the Accord Party were reportedly said to have endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the movement dismissed the meeting as lacking constitutional legitimacy and incapable of overriding the collective will of party members.
“No beer parlour meeting in Osogbo can determine the presidential direction of the Accord Party,” the group declared. “The mandate of Accord members given to Dr. Gbenga Hashim on May 30, 2026, cannot be traded inside any Government House.”
GHSM maintained that Nigerians are already aware of the party’s legitimate flag bearer, stressing that Hashim emerged as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate through a nationwide direct primary conducted in line with the Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“That mandate cannot be overturned by press statements, political bargaining, or backroom deals,” the statement read. “No meeting convened outside the constitutional structures of the Accord Party can extinguish the mandate freely given to Dr. Hashim.”
The group further described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as “null, unconstitutional and without political consequence,” accusing Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities and attempting to deploy state resources to hijack the Accord Party’s presidential ambition.
According to GHSM, such moves represent a dangerous drift toward political imposition. “The Nigerian people will never accept a one-party state or a sole presidential candidate imposed through intimidation and institutional manipulation. Accord belongs to its members, not to politicians seeking temporary advantage,” the statement added.
Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 elections, the movement described Hashim as “the most credible and unifying alternative before Nigerians,” revealing that mobilisation efforts are ongoing across all 774 local government areas to strengthen grassroots support.
GHSM also disclosed that the dispute surrounding the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where proceedings have concluded and judgment has been reserved. It warned that public pronouncements on the matter while it remains sub judice could be deemed inappropriate and contemptuous.
Reaffirming its legal stance, the group stated that Hashim remains committed to pursuing the matter through all judicial avenues, including up to the Supreme Court if necessary.
“The 2027 election will not be decided in Government Houses,” the statement concluded. “It will be decided by Nigerians. No amount of political theatre can stop the rising national momentum behind the Hashim Project.”
