The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been described as a compassionate leader who puts the people at the heart of every decision.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja on Monday, Suleiman Abdumalik, said the governor’s leadership is defined by empathy, accessibility, prudence, and a clear focus on ordinary citizens.
“Gov. Abba is a compassionate leader. You see it in how he relates with market women, students, farmers, and the most vulnerable in our communities.
“He does not govern from a distance. He listens, he feels the pains of the people, and he responds.
“This is a man who lives a simple life. He doesn’t flaunt power. He is always down to earth,” he added.
“Another aspect of the governor is that he is transparent and prudent in running the affairs of the state. You can see accountability in how resources are managed.”
Suleiman noted that the scale of responsibility has not altered the governor’s disposition.
“He is the governor of the largest state in Nigeria, with 44 local government areas, yet that has not changed his lifestyle.
“Kano is blessed. Other governors should emulate Governor Abba.” he said.
The analyst pointed to recent interventions in healthcare, education, and social welfare as proof of a people first agenda. He cited the free maternal care program, the ongoing rehabilitation of primary schools, and food relief for low income households.
“Compassion in leadership is not just about speeches. It is about policy choices that put the poor and marginalized first. That is what we are seeing in Kano under Governor Abba,” Suleiman said.
He also praised the administration’s open door approach to religious groups, community groups, civil society, and the media. “A leader who can sit with the grassroots, hear their complaints, and act on them is rare. That is the standard Gov. Abba is setting,” he said.
According to him, the governor’s conduct has translated into public confidence. “The governor has won the trust of the people. When citizens believe their governor is transparent, prudent, and understands their daily struggles, it builds confidence.
That confidence is critical for implementing difficult but necessary reforms,” he noted.
He urged residents to support the administration’s programs, saying collaboration would be key to lasting development.
“Governance is a collective task. If we back a compassionate leader with our support and vigilance, Kano will get the results they all want,” he concluded.
