Governor Dauda Lawal met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He added that the President reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to improved troop presence and support to ensure a peaceful Zamfara.
The statement read in parts, “Governor Lawal held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today, immediately after the President met with the APC’s Progressive Governors at the Presidential Villa.
“The focus of the meeting is the security situation in Zamfara, particularly highlighting the successes achieved so far and identifying areas that require improvement to facilitate the return of peace across the state.
“The president stressed his commitment to providing full support to the Zamfara state Government, including deploying more troops and the essential equipment to guarantee smooth operations.
Furthermore, Governor Lawal briefed the President on Zamfara’s economic growth, particularly the increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, and discussed ways for the federal government to provide more support.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing support, which encompasses exploring federal resources and programs that could be utilised to enhance local industries and generate job opportunities in Zamfara.”
