“Governor Abba Yusuf Defecting To APC for Personal Gain” — Kano NNPP Chairman Warns Against Move

The Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Kano State, Suleiman Hashim Dungurawa, has appealed to Governor Abba Yusuf to reconsider his political move to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing the decision as unnecessary and driven by personal interests.

Mr Dungurawa made the appeal while reacting to reports that the Kano governor and some of his political associates were planning to defect to the APC.

According to the NNPP state chairman, the alleged move was taken purely for personal reasons and not in the interest of the people of Kano State or the party that brought the governor to power.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and anyone who chooses to follow him to the APC are doing so for their personal interests,” Mr Dungurawa said.

“We did everything possible to ensure that such a decision was not taken.”

He urged the governor to have a rethink and return to the NNPP, stressing that the party remains the legitimate platform on which Kano voters entrusted him with leadership.

Mr Dungurawa warned that abandoning the party could undermine public trust and destabilise the political structure that delivered victory in the last governorship election.

He further stated that the NNPP in Kano remains united and focused, regardless of defections, and would continue to pursue its political agenda in the state.

The NNPP chairman’s comments come amid growing speculation over realignments in Kano’s political landscape, particularly following recent movements of key political figures to the ruling APC.
