Governor Alex Otti has opened the Labour Party campaign for the 2027 polls in Abia, with a warning that public facilities in the state should not be closed to the candidates and members of the opposition parties.
Governor Otti, who was addressing his supporters at Umuahia township stadium on Sunday, also promised that his administration would not demolish any property of individuals for being in the opposition parties.
Governor Otti, who expressed confidence that his achievements would secure him a second tenure, said that every individual who paid the necessary fees for public facilities should not be blocked from using such facilities.
” I have since given an order and am repeating it here that opposition parties should not be restricted from using public facilities, including this stadium.
” Never again will anybody’s fence be demolished for being in the opposition.”
Governor Otti, who lamented that a fence belonging to his supporter was demolished by the previous administration of the state, promised that such vindictive measures would not be applied by his administration against his challengers and their supporters.
He congratulated his opponents in the 2027 race, saying that the beauty of democracy is the ability of the Abia people to have available options.
The Abia Governor charged the stakeholders of the Labour Party to deliver the party in their localities.
In his speech, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, said the next House of Assembly in the state should be dominated by the Labour Party to avoid impeachment plots against Governor Otti.
