“He couldn’t do the same for me” — Lady files for divorce two months after wedding

A woman has shared why she decided to file for divorce barely two months after getting married, alleging that her husband’s refusal to make her his next of kin and beneficiary changed how she viewed their marriage.

According to the woman, she owns a perfume business that was already thriving before she met the man who later became her husband. During their wedding preparations, he asked her to add him as the next of kin on her bank account.

She said she did not hesitate because she trusted him and loved him, adding that she immediately visited the bank to complete the process, allowing him to enjoy the benefits attached to the account.

Husband’s refusal sparks disagreement

The woman explained that after their wedding, she asked her husband to reciprocate the gesture by naming her as his next of kin and beneficiary for his apartment project, where three out of five rental units had already been completed.

The woman said, “I’m in a hurry that why would I be telling him what to do that it is his money what do I mean by Incase anything happens, I’m i wishing him death? He said I should not rush him. I should calm down.”

She added that she was almost two months pregnant and believed it was only fair for her husband to extend the same level of trust she had shown him before they got married.

Decision to end the marriage stirs reactions

Following the disagreement, the woman said her perception of her husband changed completely.

She stated, “This led to me seeing him differently. I resent him because if I can do this when we were dating why can’t you do it for me while we are married.”

Her story has since generated debate on social media, with many users expressing differing opinions.

While some argued that both spouses should have equal legal recognition and financial transparency in marriage, others believed such decisions require time and should not be made under pressure, especially shortly after a wedding.
