“He moved out after the housewarming” – Woman narrates how a new home sparked crisis in a 17-year marriage

A woman has narrated the story of a couple whose marriage allegedly fell apart shortly after they held a housewarming ceremony for a home the wife purchased on her own.

In a viral video shared on TikTok, she explained that the couple lived in a two-bedroom apartment in the United States for about 10 years despite having three children.

According to her, the wife had repeatedly begged her husband to either buy a house or rent a bigger apartment, but he refused, insisting it would be a waste of money because she might divorce him and claim the property.

In her words, she said:

“The wife started saving up and eventually bought a house. When she was about to sign everything, she told her husband, ‘Come and let me add your name.’ But the husband said, ‘Never. Don’t put my name in anything. I’m not paying any mortgage with you. I’m not involved in any house.’”

She further revealed that after moving into the house, the family organised a housewarming ceremony.

She stressed that trouble started when the husband invited his wife to speak after he had addressed the guests. While thanking everyone for attending, the wife thanked God for making her a homeowner.

“After the party, the husband said she embarrassed him before everyone. He moved out and later said he would only return if she transferred ownership of the house to his name while she continued paying the mortgage,” she added.

According to the narrator, the wife suggested they buy another house together instead, but the husband refused and has remained away from the family home.

The story has since generated mixed reactions online, with many people sharing different opinions on marriage, finances and property ownership.
