‘He reminds me of myself’ – Messi names world best player currently

Barcelona and Argentina icon, Lionel Messi has expressed that there is absolutely no doubt that Lamine Yamal stands out as the finest among the latest generation of footballers making an impact globally.

Yamal has assumed Messi’s iconic No. 10 jersey at Barcelona and is widely regarded as a potential successor to the Argentine, with expectations that he will rise to become the best player in the world.

During a recent event, Messi discussed the future of football and extended his endorsement to Yamal.

“There is a new wave of footballers who are exceptionally talented and have many years ahead of them, but if I must select one based on age, his accomplishments thus far, and the potential he holds for the future, it is Lamine. Without a doubt, he is the best in my opinion,” he stated, as reported by Sport.

At the young age of just 18, Yamal secured second place behind Ousmane Dembele at the most recent Ballon d’Or awards and is anticipated to be a strong contender for the top position once again this year.

The Barcelona star is poised to claim his third La Liga title this season with the club before heading to the World Cup with Spain.

“Among the new generation of players, I believe Lamine Yamal is the one who most closely resembles me when I first began,” Messi further remarked.
