The horrifying incident happened at a busy ferry terminal in central Bangladesh, where the bus reportedly lost control while trying to board a ferry heading to Dhaka. Within seconds, the vehicle sank deep into the river—throwing passengers into panic and confusion.
So far, officials have confirmed that at least two bodies, both women, have been recovered, while over a dozen passengers have been rescued alive. However, many are still missing, and fears are growing that the death toll could rise as search efforts continue.
According to reports, the bus was carrying about 40 passengers when it suddenly veered off and plunged nearly 30 feet into the river’s dangerous waters. Some lucky passengers managed to escape before it fully sank, but others were trapped inside.
Emergency teams, including divers and rescue units from nearby regions, are working tirelessly using specialized equipment to locate survivors and recover the submerged vehicle. But the strong currents of the river are making the mission extremely difficult.
This tragedy comes at a painful time, as many people were traveling after the Eid al-Fitr celebrations—turning what should have been a joyful journey into a nightmare.
Sadly, this is not an isolated case. Just days earlier, another deadly accident claimed several lives, raising serious concerns about transport safety in the country.
