Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has issued a stern directive to political appointees in the state, warning them to focus on the welfare of the people or step aside from office.
The governor made it clear that his administration will not tolerate indifference to the needs of citizens, especially at the grassroots level.
The directive was made public through a statement released by Zainab S. Rabo, Senior Special Assistant on Media Affairs to the Governor.
According to the statement, Namadi spoke during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Dutse.
Addressing the gathering, the governor stressed that governance must remain people-oriented. He urged all appointees to stay connected to the communities they serve and respond quickly to the concerns of ordinary citizens. He said leadership is not about holding titles but about making real impact in the lives of the people.
Namadi explained that his administration is built on the principle of unity and mutual support. He called on officials to reflect this value in their daily actions.
According to him, every government representative must show compassion, responsibility, and commitment to improving living conditions across the state.
The governor did not hide his dissatisfaction with some appointees. He pointed to rising complaints from members of the public, who have accused certain office holders of neglect and lack of support.
He said it was unacceptable for individuals in government to distance themselves from the struggles of the people.
He also addressed claims by some appointees that they have little or nothing to offer those who seek their help. The governor dismissed such excuses, insisting that public office comes with responsibility and expectation.
“Anybody who feels he earns nothing to use in supporting the public should resign,” Gov. Namadi noted.
He added that true leadership is measured by service and sacrifice, not personal gain. He warned that his administration would not hesitate to take action against those who fail to live up to their responsibilities.
