In a strongly worded interview, Dalung accused INEC of deliberately creating confusion in the political space, especially in matters involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
His comments have already sparked reactions across political circles, with many describing them as one of his most controversial statements yet.
Dalung did not hold back in his criticism of INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, a respected law academic and public official.
According to him, the chairman’s legal background is being used in a way that creates “procedural mischief” instead of fairness.
“No. Professor Joash Amupitan is a professor of law. He’s a very experienced teacher and that is why he’s also an experienced mischief maker,” Dalung said.
That statement alone has triggered debate online and offline, with supporters and critics taking opposing sides.
Dalung further alleged that recent actions taken against the ADC’s internal structure were not coincidental but part of a wider political strategy to weaken the opposition.
He claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is unsettled by the growing popularity of the ADC and is reacting to its rising influence.
According to him, while powerful politicians are allegedly being encouraged to defect to the APC with large financial incentives, ordinary Nigerians are joining the ADC out of genuine conviction.
He also referenced political movements in northern Nigeria, suggesting that efforts were made to discourage high-profile figures from aligning with the ADC.
Dalung warned that such actions, if true, could deepen political tension and damage trust in the electoral process.
He urged INEC and other authorities to act with restraint and ensure that democratic processes are not manipulated in a way that could threaten national stability.
As political activities gradually intensify ahead of future elections, statements like this are adding more heat to an already charged atmosphere.
