A woman allegedly stabbed a chicken shop worker in an attack carried out with her sister after they were given the wrong order. Prosecutors allege pregnant Brianna Long, 29, and her sibling, Kierianna Long, 26, ran behind the counter and attacked the 23-year-old employee in the eatery in Detroit, Michigan, on May 30.
The sisters have been accused of chasing the worker through the restaurant, hitting her with pots and pans, trying to throw hot cooking oil at her head and threatening to kill her. Local media outlet WDIV reported one of the sisters as saying, “I’m going to kill you”, during the alleged attack. Prosecutors allege Kierianna then stabbed the worker in the stomach.
The worker fled the eatery and hid inside a stranger’s vehicle as she called for help, Fox News reports.
She was taken to hospital where she underwent surgery, according to the same publication.
Brianna and Keirianna Long have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
These include assault with intent to murder, intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Attorneys defending the sisters denied the allegations in court, arguing the worker provoked the assault by saying she didn’t “give a f***” about the error with their order.
They also allege the employee threw knives at the pair.
Local media reports that Brianna Long was nine months pregnant at the time of the incident and gave birth four days before her first court appearance.
She is said to have pleaded her innocence with the judge, adding she had a four-day-old baby at home.
Brianna and Kierianna were being held on cash bonds of £18,614 ($25,000) and £74,457 ($100,000) respectively.
It means they must pay those amounts to the court in order to secure their release from jail while awaiting trial.
