Speaking on Channels Television, the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Bashiru Mohammad, did not hold back as he warned that INEC may soon face both legal and public resistance if it continues what he described as “delay and silence” on a court judgment affecting the party’s leadership structure.
Mohammad insisted that the situation is “long overdue” and claimed that INEC should have already taken action regarding the leadership dispute involving Senator David Mark. According to him, the continued delay is creating confusion and frustration among party members.
In his words, the party is submitting four major demands to INEC. These include the cancellation of a disputed NEC meeting allegedly held by a rival faction, stopping INEC from recognising or communicating with that group, and allowing Hon. Nafiu Bala to fully take over the party’s structure without further delay.
He further warned that if INEC fails to act, the party may be forced to escalate the matter beyond legal channels, including possible street protests by supporters.
Mohammad also expressed strong frustration during the interview, questioning why a court order would not be enforced promptly. He argued that the commission must “do the needful” immediately to avoid further crisis within the party.
Political observers say the situation highlights deeper internal struggles within the ADC, as competing factions continue to battle for control and legitimacy.
For now, all eyes are on INEC to see whether it will respond to the demands or allow the dispute to escalate further.
