A 30-year-old man has been left confused after his 26-year-old girlfriend stopped communicating with him and eventually blocked him following a family event where she met his father.
According to a story shared by a narrator, the relationship was only two months old when the man invited his girlfriend to his father’s 57th birthday celebration two years ago.
Upon arriving at the family home, the woman met him outside with his father, who was giving him instructions for the event. The man reportedly noticed an unusual expression on his father’s face but introduced the woman as his friend.
His father welcomed her without making any further comments, and the celebration continued without incident.
Father’s question raises suspicions
After the event, the man noticed that his girlfriend had become distant. She reportedly began making excuses about being busy and gradually showed less interest in the relationship.
Unable to understand the sudden change, he contacted his father about a month later to check on him.
During their conversation, his father asked, “How is your friend?”
The man replied, “She’s fine, Daddy,” before they continued talking.
However, the relationship continued to deteriorate. According to the account, the woman eventually stopped visiting him and blocked him without explaining her decision.
Nigerians may debate what happened
The unusual sequence of events has raised questions about whether the father’s reaction at the birthday celebration had anything to do with the relationship’s breakdown.
Although the narrator suggested that the father may have recognised something about the woman, the account does not establish what caused his reaction or why the girlfriend eventually cut contact.
The story also raises a familiar relationship dilemma: whether friends and family should intervene when they suspect someone is unaware of an important detail about their partner.
For now, the reason behind the woman’s decision remains unknown, leaving the narrator asking whether the man should be told about the suspicion or left to move on.
