Popular Nigerian skitmaker and content creator Samuel Perry, widely known as Brodashaggi, has shared the painful details of his near-death experience after being hit by a stray bullet.
The comedian, who has maintained a low profile since the shooting incident, recently hinted that he would share his side of the story.
True to his promise, Brodashaggi released a documentary on Wednesday, October 21, in which he recounted the frightening experience, his struggles during recovery, and his gratitude for surviving the incident. He also hinted at his plans to return with exciting projects.
Recounting what happened, the skitmaker explained that he had finished filming and was heading home when he became trapped in a traffic jam. While waiting in the holdup, he suddenly heard a loud bang, after which everything around him seemed to go silent.
According to him, he could see people speaking but could not hear their voices. When he touched his hip and noticed blood, he realised that he had been hit by a stray bullet.
Brodashaggi also opened up about the emotional toll of spending months in the hospital and being unable to create content as he normally would.
He disclosed that watching his colleagues release skits on social media often brought him to tears because he was uncertain whether he would ever return to doing what he loved.
Beyond the physical pain, the comedian admitted that he feared being forgotten by his audience while he was away from the entertainment scene.
Sharing his experience in the documentary, he said:
“We were done shooting and were on our way when we got stuck in a holdup. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and everywhere went silent.
“I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then I touched my hip and saw blood. That was when it dawned on me that a stray bullet had hit me.
“I was hospitalised for months, and I felt so useless.
“I would see my colleagues post skits and burst into tears because I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do it again. I was scared people would have forgotten me by the time I returned.”
His revelation has offered fans a closer look at the difficult period he endured away from the spotlight, as he continues to look forward to returning to content creation.
