Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has shared his thoughts on why he believes he still looks youthful, linking it to the absence of major financial and family responsibilities.
In a recent video making the rounds online, the controversial artiste said many men his age often appear older because they are under constant pressure to cater for their families, including paying children’s school fees and meeting other household expenses.
According to him, the stress that comes with being the primary provider can take a visible toll on a person’s appearance over time.
Speed Darlington also urged married men to reduce the pressure on themselves by helping their wives become financially independent. He suggested that husbands could support their spouses by setting up businesses for them, arguing that doing so would not only empower women but also improve the overall well-being of the family.
The rapper’s remarks have since sparked reactions on social media, with many users debating whether financial responsibilities truly have a significant impact on how quickly people age.

“If you look at my face and compare it with men my age, you’ll notice I look younger because nobody is stressing me over children’s school fees or family problems. Those responsibilities can weigh a man down. A man keeps providing for the rest of his life, so why not help your wife by opening a business for her?”
