A Nigerian nurse, identified as Nurse Precious, has celebrated securing permanent residency in the United Kingdom (UK) at the age of 27 after successfully obtaining Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR).
Sharing the news on Facebook, Nurse Precious revealed that she moved to the UK in 2021 at the age of 23 on a Skilled Worker visa after qualifying as a registered nurse in Nigeria.
Nurse celebrates major milestone
Announcing the achievement, she wrote:
“Five years later, at 27, that same nurse — now a Registered Nurse working in a London prison — has successfully obtained ILR through that same Skilled Worker route.”
She described the milestone as life-changing, explaining that she no longer has to worry about visa renewals or employer sponsorship.
“NO MORE WORK VISA RENEWALS. NO MORE EMPLOYER SPONSORSHIP. NO MORE IMMIGRATION STATUS TIED TO MY JOB. NO MORE TIME LIMIT ON MY STAY IN THE UK. NO MORE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS WAITING FOR WORK-VISA DECISIONS.”
“I did the ILR application myself”
Nurse Precious also disclosed that she completed her ILR application without hiring a solicitor.
“Yes — I DID THIS ILR APPLICATION MYSELF,” she wrote.
She added: “I can change jobs freely, work for different employers, become self-employed, build my own business and chase BIGGER OPPORTUNITIES & MORE MONEY without first asking: “But do they sponsor?”
Plans to share her journey
The nurse said she would begin sharing videos detailing her journey, including how she moved to the UK, secured a nursing job in a London prison.
“I’m going to share the nursing, career & immigration experiences I’ve actually lived through — the wins AND the stressful parts – because somebody coming behind me may learn something from them…,” she said.
