According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, July 3, 2026, Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has recalled how he publicly defended the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, during a period when the former Anambra State governor faced alleged harassment in Edo State.
Okonkwo made the remarks while reacting to the legal action instituted against him by Obi, stating that despite no longer serving as his spokesperson at the time, he still stood up for him when he believed his safety was under threat.
The development follows a recent ruling by the Anambra State High Court sitting in Onitsha, which granted Peter Obi permission to serve court documents on Okonkwo through substituted means after efforts to personally deliver the documents proved unsuccessful.
The court approved an alternative method of service to ensure that the legal process could proceed despite the failed attempts at direct service.
