Senator Abdulaziz Yari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, has said President Bola Tinubu should not be blamed alone for the insecurity facing the country.
Yari spoke on Monday during a visit to Kebbi State, where he met with Governor Nasir Idris, traditional rulers and other party leaders in Birnin Kebbi.
He said former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired army general, also made efforts to tackle insecurity but could not eliminate the problem completely.
Yari commended the governor and other APC leaders for mobilising support for the party, expressing confidence that their efforts would deliver victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.
According to him, the campaign council would work with any individual or group committed to Tinubu’s re-election, regardless of their position, to achieve the party’s goal.
He said he was confident of the APC’s chances in Kebbi State, citing the support he witnessed during his visit.
On insecurity, Yari acknowledged that the country was facing challenges but said the Tinubu administration was making efforts to address them.
He recalled that Buhari, despite being a retired army general, also made efforts to tackle insecurity during his tenure, but the problem was not completely eliminated.
“If a retired general did his best but could not completely tackle insecurity, what do you expect of President Tinubu, who is not a general?
“Nevertheless, the President has done his utmost best to address the security challenges confronting the country,” he said.
