Human rights activist and Take-It-Back Movement leader, Omoyele Sowore, has led a protest over worsening insecurity and the continued abduction of schoolchildren in Nigeria.
Sowore said the march went ahead despite alleged threats and heavy deployment of soldiers.
According to him, the protesters marched against what they described as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s incompetence in handling insecurity and failure to rescue kidnapped schoolchildren.
He said the demonstrators made it clear that the Federal Government must ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
Sowore also said protesters told security operatives deployed at the scene that if Tinubu cannot secure the rescue of the children, he should resign from office.
The protest comes amid growing public anger over repeated school abductions, kidnappings and attacks on communities across the country.
Sowore said the movement would continue to demand accountability until abducted children and school personnel are safely reunited with their families.
