Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has taken a swipe at the state’s APC governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, following controversy over a viral video involving the politician and a student journalist.
A video recently surfaced showing Alli allegedly licking a student journalist during an interview, triggering criticism and reactions across social media.
Speaking at an event while addressing residents ahead of the forthcoming governorship election, Makinde appeared to reference the incident as he urged them to be careful about who they vote for.
“If you like vote for those people lapping each other, that’s where your problem will start; they will first forget you. You better vote for who we said you should vote for,” Makinde said.
The governor’s comment has since drawn reactions, with some amused by his choice of words and others accusing him of turning the viral incident into a political talking point.
