Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a fresh warning to individuals of Yoruba extraction allegedly collaborating with kidnapping gangs in the South-West, declaring that such acts would attract severe consequences.
Igboho, who spoke on Tuesday at the palace of the traditional ruler of Igboho in the Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, accused some indigenes of aiding criminal elements responsible for abductions in the region.
He alleged that certain Yoruba residents were working in connivance with suspected Fulani kidnappers to abduct innocent people, including their kinsmen.
The activist warned that anyone found culpable would face dire repercussions, stressing that betrayal of the Yoruba people would not be tolerated.
“There are some Yorubas collaborating with Fulani groups in the kidnapping of our people and aiding them,” he said.
He added that individuals from Igboho town or elsewhere in Yorubaland who support such criminal activities would “not end well,” warning that the community would no longer condone internal sabotage.
Igboho’s remarks come amid rising concerns over insecurity and kidnapping across parts of the South-West, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger community-based responses to criminal activities.
In a related development, the activist disclosed that he had issued a two-hour ultimatum to members of the Fulani community in his hometown to secure the release of a pregnant woman and her sibling allegedly abducted over the weekend.
The development underscores growing tension in parts of Oyo State, as local actors continue to take hardline positions against insecurity, often raising concerns among observers about the implications for law and order.
Efforts to get official reactions from security agencies in the state were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
