The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Dankombo Morris, to Plateau State for an operational assessment following recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, announced the deployment on Thursday.
Morris visited Kawel Community in Mushere District, Bokkos LGA, on Tuesday, and met with community leaders, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to assess the security situation and discuss ongoing efforts to restore peace.
He conveyed the condolences of the IGP and the Force Management Team to the affected families, assuring residents that the Nigeria Police Force was committed to ensuring that those responsible for the attacks were brought to justice.
Morris said additional security personnel had been deployed to Plateau State, particularly the affected communities in Bokkos LGA, to strengthen police operations and increase security presence.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and avoid reprisal actions that could worsen the situation and threaten peace in the area.
During the visit, the AIG also paid a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and conveyed the condolences of the police leadership and assured them of their readiness to work with the state government in addressing security concerns.
