Controversial social media activist VeryDarkMan has defended his invitation to speak at a Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference, saying he was invited to share his experience on insecurity rather than teach lawyers the law.
Speaking at the conference, VeryDarkMan addressed the criticism surrounding his appearance, noting that some of those questioning his invitation may not have understood the topic he was invited to discuss.
“There has been a lot of debate about why I was invited to this NBA conference. I’m not here to teach you people law; I’m here to share experience. I’m sure those people debating didn’t actually see the topic “known Gun men”. This is not a topic of “may I my lord” because your lords are being kidnapped,” he said.
His comments appeared to centre on the realities of kidnapping and insecurity in Nigeria, particularly the impact on members of the legal profession.
The appearance generated mixed reactions on X, with some users praising VeryDarkMan for speaking boldly, while others questioned his presence at a professional gathering for lawyers.
