The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for several entry-level vacancies across different professional and administrative cadres.
The commission announced that the online application portal opened on Monday, July 20, and will remain accessible until Monday, July 27.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening the electoral body’s workforce in key areas, including election logistics, voter registration, electoral administration and data management.
Interested applicants can submit their applications through the official recruitment portal by creating an account, completing the online form and uploading all required credentials. INEC also emphasised that the recruitment process is completely free.
Positions available and eligibility requirements
The commission is recruiting into Professional Cadre positions on Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12, including roles such as Accountant, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer, Clinical Officer and Quantity Surveyor.
It is also accepting applications for Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08 and Executive Officer (Registration Officer) on Grade Level 07.
Applicants are expected to possess the relevant educational qualifications for their preferred positions, alongside an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate where applicable.
Professional roles also require recognised professional certifications and relevant post-qualification experience.
Application process and important deadline
Beyond educational requirements, INEC stated that applicants must be Nigerian citizens of good character, medically fit, not older than 35 years and willing to work in any part of the country.
Candidates are required to upload documents including their passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, academic certificates, local government identification certificate and NYSC certificate where necessary before submitting their applications online.
The commission warned applicants against providing false information or submitting forged documents, stressing that offenders would be disqualified and could face prosecution.
It also noted that applicants cannot change their selected vacancy after submission, while only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
