A suspected US strike hit the central Iranian city of Isfahan early on Tuesday, sending a massive fireball into the sky, as Tehran struck a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Gulf.
US President Donald Trump, who has been insisting there is progress in diplomatic talks toward a ceasefire, shared a video of the attack on Isfahan, with fiery explosions lighting up the night sky. Isfahan is home to one of the three sites earlier attacked by the US military in June, and some of Iran’s highly enriched uranium is likely stored or buried there.
Israeli and US strikes also hit a religious site in the northwestern city of Zanjan. The attack on the Grand Husseiniya, a hall for Shia gatherings and mourning ceremonies, damaged parts of the dome and minarets, state media said.
The capital, Tehran, was also hit in Tuesday’s US-Israeli attacks.
In the Gulf, where the conflict’s spillover is also taking place, an Iranian drone reportedly hit a Kuwaiti oil tanker in Dubai waters, sparking a blaze that was later extinguished, the Dubai Media Office said.
Four people in Dubai were also wounded when debris from an intercepted drone fell into a residential area.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said on Tuesday four soldiers had been killed in combat in southern Lebanon, where conflict has also intensified in parallel with the ongoing war in Iran.
A military statement named three troops from the same battalion who “fell during combat”, and a separate statement said another soldier, who had not yet been publicly named, died in the same incident.
