The Embassy of Iran in Nigeria has called for truth, accountability and justice over the deaths of 168 children allegedly killed in a missile strike on Shajareh Teybeh School in Minab.
The embassy made the call in a statement issued on Friday.
The appeal came 168 days after the reported start of the war.
According to the embassy, the children were killed in what it described as a US missile strike on the school.
The embassy said responsibility for the attack must be established, adding that the United States had not formally accepted responsibility for the strike despite what Iran described as evidence linking the attack to US forces.
“168 days have passed since the beginning of the aggression against Iran,” the statement said.
“168 innocent children lost their lives as a result of U.S. missile strikes on Shajareh Teybeh School in Minab.”
The embassy stressed that the lives of children should be valued equally, regardless of their nationality.
“The life of an Iranian child is no less valuable than the life of an American, European or any other child in the world,” it said.
The embassy called on the international community to uphold international humanitarian law and ensure that attacks on civilians, especially children and schools, are properly investigated.
