Iran’s adversaries will be “surprised” by new weapons, new methods of warfare, and new arenas of conflict if Iran is attacked again, Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akrami Nia has warned, according to the Tasnim news agency.
He added that countries that comply with US sanctions on Iran would “face difficulties crossing the Strait of Hormuz,” which remains effectively cut off by Iran amid an ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards had threatened Saturday to target US sites in the Middle East if its tankers come under fire, as Washington was left waiting for Tehran’s response to its latest negotiating position.
Iranian and US forces exchanged fire on Thursday and Friday in the Gulf as both sides traded accusations over attacks.
In Lebanon, the Israeli military continued attacks on the country’s south, and struck cars on a coastal highway farther north. The fresh attacks were some of the most intense since the start of a three-week-old ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah that has done little to halt daily exchanges of fire in southern Lebanon.
