Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that Tehran could deploy new weapons and military capabilities if the United States launches another attack.
IRGC spokesman Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi said Monday that Iran had prepared for a prolonged conflict and would change its weapons, tactics and targets if hostilities resumed.
“If a new aggression takes place, there will definitely be significant changes in our defence and our counteroffensive,” Mohebbi said, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
He said Iran would “change the geography of the war” and introduce new weapons with capabilities that had not previously been used in the conflict.
“We will definitely bring new weapons with new capabilities into the battlefield, and the world will be surprised,” Mohebbi said.
He also warned that Iran had identified new targets that had not previously been attacked and could expand the scope of its military response.
The IRGC spokesman did not disclose details of the weapons or explain what capabilities they possess.
His comments came amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington, with US President Donald Trump threatening further action against Iran.
Mohebbi said Iran had already prepared for a prolonged war and was more prepared for such a conflict than before.
Iranian authorities have previously said they are continuing to develop and upgrade their domestic weapons production, while withholding details of some systems for security reasons.
