Biography and Education
Isha grew up in Mumbai, India, as part of the Ambani family, one of the country’s most prominent and wealthy families. Her father, Mukesh Ambani, is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, and her mother, Nita Ambani, founded the Reliance Foundation. Isha has a twin brother, Akash, and a younger brother, Anant.
Isha attended Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai for her early education. She then studied psychology and South Asian studies at Yale University in the United States. Later, she earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business in California.
Career
After finishing her studies, Isha worked as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company.
In 2014, Isha returned to India and joined her father’s company, Reliance Industries, as a member of the board of directors. She is also a member of the executive committee of Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecommunications arm of Reliance Industries. She has also played an instrumental role in the development of Jio’s digital services and has been at the forefront of the company’s initiatives to provide affordable and accessible digital connectivity to millions of people in India.
In December 2015, Isha and her brothers led the employee launch of Jio 4G services with Ambassador Shahrukh Khan present. She is also part of the executive leadership teams at Reliance Retail, Reliance Jio, Reliance Foundation, and Dhirubhai Ambani International School.
In 2016, Isha launched Ajio, an online fashion brand under Reliance Retail, where she is the managing director in charge of branding and management. Today, Ajio.com offers over 2,500 brands, has annual sales of $2 billion, and holds more than 15% of India’s fashion e-commerce market.
