Israeli strikes on Lebanon killed 36 people and wounded 74 others in the last day, the country’s health ministry reported, as the military continues to issue new displacement orders in the south amid continued fighting with Hezbollah.
Israeli strikes killed two Syrian nationals between Qlailah and Deir Qanoun on Sunday, while an attack on the town of Bdeyas killed one and wounded 13, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.
Other strikes have been reported in Majdal Selm and al-Mansouri, as well as a factory near the town of Al-Ramadiyah, and Blat.
At least 24 people were killed on Saturday, as strikes pounded Nabatiyeh, killing a Syrian man and his daughter.
The toll also includes an attack on the town of al-Sakaieh in southern Sidon, where at least seven were killed, including a child, the Ministry of Public Health reported.
Israel has continued to shell the city of Bint Jbeil and the town of Tayri, close to the frontline, where fighting has been reported between Hezbollah and the Israeli army.
The strikes came after Israel issued displacement orders for nine new villages in southern Lebanon on Saturday.
Hezbollah has responded to the strikes with attacks on Israeli soldiers occupying south Lebanon using drones, announcing on Sunday that a drone strike targeted a D9 bulldozer in the town of Deir Seryan.
Hezbollah also struck Israeli troops in northern Israel, wounding three soldiers in a drone attack, and firing several rockets at troops in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah has increasingly turned to using fibre-optic guided first-person view (FPV) drones with attached explosives against Israeli forces.
The tactic, whose use has been pioneered in Ukraine, has allowed Hezbollah to bypass Israeli electronic jamming against drones and strike troops, tanks, and medical evacuations.
The Israeli army itself claimed to have struck 40 Hezbollah targets across south Lebanon over the weekend, killing 10 fighters.
The Israeli attacks come despite a ceasefire being announced on 16 April by US President Donald Trump, as well as negotiations between the Israeli and Lebanese governments.
Israel has killed at least 2,727 people in Lebanon and wounded a further 8,438, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
