JAMB Inaugurates N1bn CBT Centre Donated By Zulum

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has inaugurated a N1 billion mega Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre donated by the Borno State Government, a facility expected to expand examination and admission registration services across the North-East.

The Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC) was inaugurated on Wednesday by the outgoing JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, alongside the incoming Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina.

JAMB’s Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, said the facility sits on a 5,300-square-metre site and is fully fenced, landscaped and powered by a dedicated 300kVA transformer.

He said the centre has two CBT halls equipped with 275 computers each, allowing it to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily. It also houses office complexes, conference rooms, registration areas, waiting halls and other support facilities.

Benjamin said Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, initiated the project, which was completed in less than six months after its foundation was laid on February 24, 2026.

The statement reads, “The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, accompanied by his successor, Prof. Segun Aina, on Wednesday, July 22, commissioned the Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre (PRC), donated by the Borno State Government.

“The ultra-modern facility, situated on a 5,300-square-metre expanse of land, is fully fenced and landscaped and is powered by a newly installed 300kVA transformer. The main office complex comprises eight offices, three conference rooms, four registration areas, and 16 convenience facilities.

“The centre also features two Computer-Based Test (CBT) halls, each equipped with 275 computers, enabling the facility to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily during examinations.

“In addition, the centre has two spacious waiting areas with a combined capacity of 500 candidates at a time, as well as six additional convenience facilities to ensure the comfort of candidates awaiting their examination sessions.

“The foundation of the project was laid by the Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, on February 24, 2026. The project was completed in less than six months, ahead of the completion timeline earlier set by the Governor.

Speaking at the inauguration, Oloyede described the centre as a landmark investment in education, saying it would reduce the difficulties faced by candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions, particularly in the North-East.

He commended Zulum for prioritising education, noting that JAMB officials were impressed by the state’s investments in smart schools and other education infrastructure.

The incoming JAMB Registrar, Aina, also praised the partnership between JAMB and the Borno State Government, expressing hope that the collaboration would continue to strengthen the Board’s operations and improve educational development.

Zulum further stated that the state invested more than N1 billion in the project, insisting that education remains the most effective tool for addressing Borno’s social and economic challenges.

He added that the benefits of the mega CBT centre would far outweigh its cost by expanding access to quality examination and admission services for students in the region.
