An All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Alwan Hassan, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that the opposition has failed to present meaningful criticisms of his administration while insisting that academic qualifications do not determine effective leadership.
Speaking during a political discussion on Channels Television, Hassan questioned the relevance of the educational credentials of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. According to him, degrees and academic titles have not translated into better leadership or political judgment.
He said, “Tell me what Jonathan’s PhD has done to Nigeria. Tell me how Obi’s BSc has helped improve his communication skills. Tell me what it has done to Atiku to help him navigate and know the time to contest or when to concede for the best person of the time.”
Hassan also accused opposition leaders of being motivated by personal ambition rather than national interest, claiming they lacked credible issues to challenge the Tinubu administration.
He added, “These guys are greedy guys. They don’t have any substance to hold this man. We are 3 to 4 years in government and Asiwaju has done a lot. Let’s talk about what this man has in his last 4 years….”
The APC chieftain maintained that public discourse should focus on what he described as the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration instead of political attacks centered on personalities.
